the problem jay, is that these cards will be old cards when we get to the point where ray tracing potentially.. is used properly by new games. this is pretty much as relevant as 3d ready tv`s were 10 years ago. in other words they are in effect kinda scamming their customers with this

according to this dumbass JayzTwoCents defending ngreedia. It's because they want to get rid of the titan cards and call the TI the new titan wich is bullshit. The 1080 had 25 percent gains over the 980Ti while the 2080 has almost no gains over the 1080Ti. Plus the titan has an unlocked core while this one doesn't

It is film-makers that need something like RTX, not gamers. But we need the GPUs to generate frames at whatever rates they can and just store them to a file. Then the editors will create the frame rates they need in their final productions. Our frame rates are often 10 minutes per frame.

CGI Movies in general are pretty shit and the CGI is obvious. Some of the best films of all time had people in costumes. They are still better than the shit Michael Bay puts out using CRAZY camera shake to hide shit CGI shit plotline with rubber stamp back stories introducing the viewers to the recovering alcoholic/divorced dad/combat vet...It's why his "Make some money from anyone over 12" approach is really getting tired. Jayz you are in this industry, a smart man - the companies just bleed money out of people and pretend it's competition when in reality they both know and agree on a tit for tat approach. It won't work for me having forked out on a (hopefully 4-5 year decent PC build (1080TI ASUS rog card 32G 3200 RAM intel 8700K, gaming mB, NVME, good psu etc) if AMD bring out something mad intel have lost my cash forever. It's a principle thing – (a rinse and repeat and milk the profits way will loose them 10000 or more  from 1 customer (me)). Same as i will never by another sony product - i'll buy the next best if it is the no1 1 spot. (reason for that is PS3-PS4 no backwards compatibility at the time even mentioned, headphones that broke for 70+people in competition with Sennheiser PCX550 & Bose QC35 - no refund. They can have my middle finger with my vote as a consumer. I bought Sennheiser because of better customer care (YES the MASSIVE sonny are arrogant stingy bastards it seems) So I dare AMD to come up with something great! if intel respond very shortly after it's down to who wants to stop being a cunt to consumers 1st - AMD will have my money every time from the next point on. I am sick of their games and trickling tech to consumers may be good for $$$$$ it is NOT good for our progress as a human race when potentially time may be running out and it’s NOT good in any sense of the word. Jayz great vids though - it's not a rant at you. I hope you can see where I am coming from....

All I know is 3 years ago i bought what I consider the top 970 the g1 gamer for 300 UK pounds. To me that's alot of money for a mid ranged card but acceptable. 1 year later I bought a zotac 1070 amp ext. A great card and again one of the top 1070 it was also the cheapest I could find at that time close to release. It Was 430. I felt this was to much for a mid ranged card. Great card bad price. Notw they expect me to pay for again a good 2070 closer to 500 pounds. Sorry but from 300 pounds to 500_600 pound in 3 years is a huge joke. I hope anm can compete cause I want out of nvidia at these prices even if I love both my other nvidia cards and gsyn. A 70 series card should be 300 for bottom and 400 UK pounds top. In UK that would actually translate same in dollars cause her win UK vat and import taxes. And. Even brotextit has all seemed to add to card prices and it sucks for. Me.

If the Ti takes the place of the Titan, it means there's no more discount Titan after 1 month (as you say). And that's really bad. With the new cards releasing the way I see it is now is the absolute perfect time to upgrade your GPU as long as you don't already have a 1080/1080ti. I own a GTX 1060 3 gig, heavily used but i got it for 140 dollars. Come holiday season ill be upgrading between the 1070-1080 range depending on prices. 1070 are starting to hit sub 400 dollars! 1070 ti at 450 and 1080 at 550. 1080 ti is still is about 700, and these are founders versions of cards!

I am not getting your point, as far as I understand it - there is no way to actually show an full ray tracing rendered scene, since that would cost a lot of performance that is currently just not viable for real time gaming. So basically those guys that say Tomb Raider that is running at 30FPS with RTX EFFECTS enabled - are to be taken serious. It is just an effect, nothing more. It's not like you disable rasterization and enable ray tracing. So to complain about it, is not wrong.

Was RTX intended for CGI movie making or for gaming? Traditional methods of simulating GI in games combined with Ambient Occlusion was not so bad at all. It worked well and was pleasing to the eye. The CEO made it sound so bad just to market the RTX over the GTX. Having in mind that the RTX does not automatically start ray tracing any game or scene that you load except the scene or game has been doctored to support this RTX feature should tell you that the RTX is not as natural or awesome as the CEO claims. It's only a marketing strategy. The RTX will run existing games just as the GTX without any ray tracing and future games will run slower with ray tracing enabled.

would the FPS matter that much. Im not shure about this but one . but a gamer with 70FPS and another with 30FPS, both of them experience one second at a time, and its still your reaction time per second. As long as the Framerate doesnt drop under 24FPS it should be decent, like gaming with a 1 FPS gamer would suffer some action for a nice moody scenery, to the 30FPS or 70FPS. Ray traced or not . for a 70FPS gamer I would imagine sharp rotations and fast moving objects would be rendered more clearly on the screen . Back in the days when I did 3D it took like an hour to do one frame with ray trace with a few bouncebacks ! With a big enough image I guess it still can take an hour, just pump it full of polygons .

There's some confusion in this video. The 20-series aren't ray-tracers, they're rasterisers with ray-tracing added for some effects. But they're still building the image via rasterisation, they just then use ray-tracing for some lighting, shadow and reflection effects.

Stop trying to justify these prices with made up reasons. There is no official word that Titan is now 2080 Ti. None. 2080 Ti is the direct successor to 1080 Ti based on the simple fact that it's a "x080 Ti" card. It even has the same numbered chip, 102. Also, rest assured there will be a turing Titan, since 2080 Ti does not have the fully enabled chip. 2080 Ti should cost no more than $850-900, and that includes all the fancy RT, DLSS, etc. stuff. The only reason it costs $1000-1200 is that AMD is MIA.

In a year we will see 40-50% of new titles supporting it and probably a full 2-3 years before it is a common setting in the latest games. At that time pick up a 2080 Ti off eBay for $300-$500 or save up $45/mo for 2 years and then a buy the new 2280 Ti at that time for $1100 and get some value out of Ray Tracing then.

In my opinion RTX was marketed to gamers, when it should have been marketed to graphics artists. I don't think they get enough credit, Nvidia created a whole new type of architecture. No one should have expected it to be incredibly faster than the current gen of graphics cards, which are an evolution of architectures that have existed and been perfected for decades now. Honestly, it was the fault of all the hype mixed with disingenuous marketing that got it so much disdain. They should have been honest about its capabilities from the getgo.

1. If raytracing tech isn't matured and valid for gaming yet why is it even on rtx card targetting gamers for premium price added for it? If it's going to be on a top end gaming card people should expect it to be usable tech for the purpose it's marketed for. 2. Naming shifting isn't a good defense for price level set for 2080ti that's just marketing ploy defense FOR nvidia. I don't know why Jay isn't seeing this from consumer view point and defending nvidia via naming excuse. 2080 Ti is not titan. It's Ti and in line with 80 Ti line increase in performance. 3. If this video was done through consumer's viewpoint/interest it should have been pointed out nvidia is setting price point to keep 1080 and tis in the market to clear stock. It bothers me Jay is defending rtx marketing while he definitely knows better. Hope this isn't the beginning of this channel turning from pro-consumer to some corp marketing/defense tool.

I think the main point of Jayz video is to keep an open mind to the rtx. It is a tuff call tho imo. I sense nvidia's move to push out a fairly expensive 'low performing' (ray tracing) card is i think gonna be one of there biggest divisive moves for a long time. On one hand you have people that just want more uber fps in current titles, whilst you have those that will sacrifice such for more immersive ground breaking gaming visual experience. However real time ray tracing in games is new tech so i think Jay is saying don't just stomp on it yet (after current Tomb raider performance)... but also why you should be careful about pre ordering, before you know the fuller facts. I get both sides, might be divisive, just can't please everyone, but i do get frustrations about its price (but then ive thought that for many generations previous also). I for one am wanting to give ray tracing gaming a go. I can tho see frustrations also, as said... but for a long time i've wanted knew 'ground breaking' gfx tech in gaming visuals and now we have a big leap. I'm looking forward to it. And will sacrifice fps to take it on board now. Some will, some won't.

I want performance. Maybe on my 3rd playthrough I will enable RTS and crawl through the prologue and look and the pretty reflections.

Brand new sub today and here's why. If hes not giving both sides of the issue then hes not hitting both sides of the extremists who will wholeheartedly agree one way or another despite evidence to the contrary. This is why we see a high percentage of dislikes. However this video has more likes than dislikes which in most cases there are more people who don't polarize on an issue because they don't see things only in black and white. I can appreciate how NVIDIA is excited for this consumer version of the tech, however as a guy who has 1 240hz and 2 auxiliary 144hz monitors I can definitely say that I do not want to use raytracing. Doesn't mean I don't see the value, just not for me. Let the benchmarks speak for the value personal to me. I believe the majority of us appreciate him pointing out all the things NVIDIA did wrong as a company in presentation and realistic views on the situation. He is recognizing the pro's in a sea of people who only want to complain., but hes not just playing devils advocate here, it sounds like he genuinely believes to just wait and see what happens. Which is always good advice to those who start screaming the sky is falling, until it doesn't and then they wait for the next thing in their lives to look forward to getting overly emotional about. Like in the movie Volcano, wait until you see where the lava bomb is going to land before running around screaming.

I completely understand the pricing after all it's the first tech to have Ray Tracing and you all should know the first products that come out that has new tech etc are always expensive. That being said personally it looks like these cards are being pushed out wayyyyyyy too early. I may be completely wrong it just looks like as far as gaming goes it's not gonna be worth it but then again i'm just guessing lol

I think Nvidia will implement false scarcity to keep prices high. keep production limited and this will also stop the 2nd hand market from dumping at low prices
