I was actually pretty interested in trying out watercooling. The advantages vs risks for CPU makes it not worth the hassle. But for multi-card configurations, Watercooling is the only way to make your cards run within acceptable temps and still enjoy full performance. Two things happened that made me shy away from water cooling. 1- I watched one of Kyle's videos a few years back when he accidentally discovered that one of the hoses of his CLC became loose and spilled fluid all over his system. That means that even when buying a CLC, you're not safe and I can't afford rebuilding my main system if that happens 2- PRICE of watercooling components where I live is through the roof and those are off the shelf CLC units. You can't even buy custom loop components locally and will need to import them at your own expense. Also, to get warranty service for any failed component, you'd need to ship it back to Amazon or wherever you bought it and that is a whole other ball game where I live

You and Steve over at GN scare me when you do the stuff you do with your systems and hardware. From the RTX teardown, to your makeshift water cooled RTX to the liquid nitrogen cooling for overclocking! WHY???!!! FOR THE LUV OF ALL THAT IS GOOD!!! WHY???!! :D Just ventured into AIO water cooling (NZXT Kraken X52) a Xeon E5-2683-V3 only because I couldn't find an air cooled solution that could fit safely on the Asrock X99 MB. The first PCIe x16 slut is too close to the CPU. Freaking out about leaks and all sorts, and it's not even connected.

I want to thank you for all your great water cooling videos. I must have have spent 20 hours pouring over them trying to understand what I need. Here are the parts that need to be considered for my custom loop: Thermaltake Core P1 Case Asus ROG Strix Z390 I-Gaming Intel 9900K Sapphire RX580 Pulse 8GB (Hackintosh compatible) 16 / 12 mm glass tubing. I plan to cool the CPU and GPU with nickel plated blocks but believe I am running into a radiator issue with the case. I will need to cool 280 watts of thermal load and I can only use one 240 X 120 X 30mm thick radiator according to Thermaltake.   Being older and and out of touch, I have a few questions: 1) Is this enough? 2) There seems to be way more space available. Are they wrong and can I go thicker? 3) Would a thicker radiator help? 4) I was planning to buy Bytski parts but they seem speedy, is there any other bran you recommend? Thanks!

You worldn't HAVE TO fix them if you'd just stop putting dyed/pigmented crap in your loops,... Again, if you want your tank & tubes a certain color. BUY THE TANK & TUBES THAT COLOR!!! Don't put extra crap in the loop that doesn't need to be there & gunks everything up after a year.

you should talk to the car guru scotty kilmer about this, this is what's called normal sediment from the air in it that gets caught in your fluids as well as corrosion aka rust; sediment built up of the electrons flowing at the various temperatures between all the metals and the fluids in ion/atom exchanges. so like a cars radiator over flow bottle which has an always exposed air cap, when you go down a dirt road dust gets kicked up and over time that dust gets trapped in the overflow bottle and during the exchanges of the coolant from the pressure releases that goes into the radiator and on the hot days into the over flow bottle before being sucked back in to the radiator, over and over and over, this is the remains of that, except your loop system is closed, so yours is more sediment from the place of manufacturers water supply as well as the corrosion going on. higher heat levels means more exchanges and build ups and rust range temperatures. too complex to make simple, but enough to make you a scientist if you choose to study it. }:P.

nice video, i started of with water cooling 1 week old and the dc to dc pump motor controller failed. that pump cost over £120 in early 2003. then moved to gigabyted water cooling and used that on a early Prescott. i didnt have much money at that time and over clocked celeron prescotts rearly easy on 478 sockets using asus motherboards. there was a hack in the registry on xp where you could actualy tell windows how much cache you had on the cpu. i did bench test using a full p4 and a celeron at same speed and must say it was just a little smoother on 3dmarks2001. nature was more gpu but the matrix was a great bench mark. my first best gfx card was a nvidia 6200 and i unlocked the extra 4 pipe lines to 8, memoery at 700mhz. i did a volt mod on the gpu adding a resistor to up the volts a fraction and glued heatsinks on the memory. i was so proud of it that we placed it in the shop window where we worked just to show it of. love your vids jayztwocents but i feel sometimes live nvidia new card everyone is on about it so much its like a new song in the charts its just overload to much. keep up the good work and stay with planet earth x

4:12 Its called a rotor. The Impellor is the black part on the top that moves the fluid. Wet rotor pump would be the best explanation for the type of pump this is. The white ball is ceramic not nylon. If you look inside the rotor from the back you can see the other "cup" part of the bearing. It has 4 slits in it to allow the pumped fluid to enter and lubricate the two surfaces, this is why you should never run one dry as whatever it is pumping is also the lubricant. Also, when putting one back together don't just let the magnetic force it snap the two parts together. I have broken a d5 doing this! Ceramic does not like shock loads.

Hey Jay, (community can help me too!) I want to buy a PC, preferably I would like to build one and I am looking for the capability of 4k graphics because of titles like Forza that are big open world and really are amazing when the graphics are all maxed out but also games like battlegrounds sometimes etc. I haven't owned a proper gaming pc and building it is going to be easier since I have a friend that builds them. I was thinking a 1070ti would be enough for a $1500-2000 build, with 16gb of ram with i7 and SSD storage. I'm not looking to overclock either. Water would be better. Better heat transfer, cleaner, no buildup, can use any parts. Oil you couldn't use rubber orings so you'd have to sort that out too. Seems excessive to do an oil loop just because you're afraid of a pump dying. I'd just air cool at that point.

is there a way to change at what temp the system shuts down? I've had my pump on turn on with the rest of my system 2 times in the 5+ years I've owned it, and it'd be nice to have some sort of protection built in before things get really hot. Both times I only noticed when the graphics card started throttling and was at over 100°C. Is there a way to initiate a system shut down when my gpu is at like 80°C? I know 80 is still fine, and thats kinda my point, I want the system to shut down while its still at safe temps. And since my pc is watercooled, it never see's 80°C when everything is working correctly.

Vor Monat
Bob Last

noxious89123 it's harder to do with CPU temp cause the CPU still gets hot. That and my eyes only made it to the gpu temp both times this happened and I panicked and force shut down my pc, so I wouldn't know where to set that shut down temp. But with the gpu I know... so uh, how would I mod the vbios for that?
