BATTLEFIELD V and RTX ON... Performance TESTED

Seems like many people ignored the fact that I said that if you dont care for this tech, then 20 series cards arent for you. I plan to do this again using the 2080 and 2070, which based on this performance would be completely unplayable even at DRX low. The crappy thing is that 10 series cards will be gone soon and you will have no choice but to buy 20 series cards if you want a new card, or take chances with a used card.

BTW, a game such as COD Black Ops 4 renders the screen space reflections so that your own hands and gun do not remove the reflections from the water on ground at all! So I think they do it somehow more cleverly than many other games. I see the reflections disappearing in other games though, like FO76 and WoW, when something gets on their way, as was demonstrated in this video. BTW, love idea of ray tracing coming into games. Wanted that since I first tinkered around 3D Studio R2 on a 486/66MHz. :) Nvidia's real-time implementation still needs to mature more and game developers could use it in more limited parts of the scene for better FPS to satisfy more people. But still, I love the fact that some effort is finally put to this on commercial scale.

now that I got a 2070, I totally agree with you jayz, I think its worth it, this is deeply facinating to me and combined with the fact it costs the same as a 1080 and is better at normal stuff, I see no reason not to buy a 2070, you get a gimmick feature on a card that is still better than a card that costs the same.

Raytracing is still the one of the best options to turn OFF to get propper FPS. Raytracing is pretty cool, but at this time, its just not that relevant with the big performance hit. Give it 2-3 years.

For me this looks nothing more like a mirrored copy of the world. This would explain the frame drop. The light being raytraced has nothing actually todo with the "reflection" of the water. If i have to render the scene twice while the water is a mirror of the entire scene than thats whats happening here. Only the light itself is raytraced because before you had to render the light onto the texture while now you just calculate every ray in realtime. Oblivion used "reflective" water years ago by copying parts of the scene as a mirror onto the surface of the water plate in lower polygon count.

Most people can't afford that shit mate. And I suspect you get it for free. And in the UK now, alot of people can't afford to eat let alone waste time getting excited about ray tracing. So while you get excited about Ray Tracing, Europe is gearing up for a repeat of the 1930's!!!

Look, I get your opinion, and sure, from a technological point of view, this is indeed a great leap forward. However from every other point of view, this is a disaster. This should not have been a mainstream card, more something like a showpiece. It is extremely overpriced and the the games are simply not there to be able to take full advantage of it, even the card itself isn't powerful enough to properly deliver in this one game. Hopefully the new navi cards will force prices to go down a bit, because at this moment you get flashy bling bling effect cards from nvidia for an exorbitant asking price. It is absolutely ridiculous to pay 1000+ $ for a graphics card, and it's not like it will completely blow you away, it's not mesmerizing, it's not jaw-dropping. This entire line of new nvidia cards has been a total letdown, the 10 series was a good jump forward, this seems like a step back. The cards cost a lot of money and they don't deliver for the price that you pay. Why could they have not released a normal series that improves on previous gen, and work on this as a side project, maybe wait another year or two, perfect the technology, have contracts with multiple game studios, let them test these cards out, let them design their games to properly support raytracing, and only after that start a mainstream launch. This entire card launch cost them a ton of money on the stock market as their shares are in a downwards spiral.

All I read are whiners in the comments... If you like the 1080 then you are okay with zero ray tracing and good fps. If you don't care about ray tracing and only good fps, just disable ray trace and use the 2080's speed for better than 1080 fps. At least you will have the option to switch it on/off and experience better ray tracing in the future with better drivers. I sense the real reason for the whining is the 1080 investment a lot of people spent who want to make themselves feel better by acknowledging the card as a 'mega-flop'. (no pun intended)

You literally went from 150 to 50 fps. I don't care about how "advanced" this technological improvement is at that cost. YES it is amazing, but it's so not ready yet. The fact they talk about it as a selling point like it's the next best thing it's just fucking stupid. There is a reason Crysis meme exists. And it's because of this. Doing things that are always ahead of time and can't be enjoyed as they were thought of. What is the point of getting literally the best/fastest GPU if you can't use it for what it's aimed for? Can't the 1080Ti play this at ultra at 1080p? Maybe even the 1080 or 1070 at high for sure... and at least you don't waste 1000 dollars on a GPU. Nvidia is still the best on the market without a doubt, and I side for AMD, but their ways are just shameful, just like Intel.

Playing any pvp mmo at under 60fps is a joke even the occasional mid 80fps, if you are a compedator the higher the better fps. Whilst raytraceing does make better shadeing/reflections/lighting it is still atleast 1 serious beyond being a true upgrade to the people able to hit super high fps on a 1080ti let alone them running sli. It is like all virtual reality headsets, they because of weight and low pixels do not work well enougth to be useable by most people apart from hardcore fans of the tech well includeing you in the whole case of wow rtx is amazeing yet in all pvp mmos there are two key factors the first being ping and the second being fps and mouse movement. The megar fps useing rtx will suck for all true champion class pvpers as lower fps dulls their fast reaction times.

When RTX is useable with max settings at 1080p@60fps at the 1060/580 price levels, then RTX will be worth it as that will be when the majority have access and it doesn't kill their performance so it will be supported by most developers, and not just those NVidia convinced to demo it for them (I wouldn't trust NVidia's claims on the performance after their BS about arkham knight, even if I did get if off them for free with my old 980ti). Until then like the rest of Gimpworks, it will be another turned off by default feature even on the high end cards. Lol when even the likes of Hairworks is turned off by default still in most cases especially in benchmarks, there is no way RTX which hobbles things even worse, will be worth it for anything but tech demos any time soon.

I hope that in the next generations the technology is more normalized and the cost goes down so that the normal consumer can enjoy the effect. I always thought ray tracing was something that was too advanced to be seen in games in this decade, so I'm delighted to see there's tech that lets us have it NOW. The problem is I can't afford something this ridiculous. Hell I bought a 1080 ti recently and could barely justify to myself having something that powerful and expensive. You should build a lighting grid in the ceiling, and connect your lights to wireless dmx. You could eliminate having lights on the ground or in the shot while in your studio. It would also allow you to light from upstage, lower the light level falling on your screen (which would prevent washing out the image), while creating more depth in your videos.

I got the MSI Gaming X Trio 2080 Ti (the best in fps comparisons between all the 2080 Ti variants. Recent games I've tested r exceeding 100-140fps in 4K! Insane! Look it up n research). Anyway, besides not meaning to be an arrogant ass, I gotta say... I played it on 4K at Ultra with RTX on n the performance is really bad UNTIL u adjust settings like I did in my video to help with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBgczSlxZQ8 Jay, ur getting up to 100fps even after u changed a setting to max (cuz u forgot to lol) because u were on 1080p the entire time. With a 4K monitor, mess around with settings, u can play it at even 4K resolution (well... 4K resolution with resolution scaling decreased), n can hit up to 80 n 90fps at 4K display as well! But let's be honest, most can't afford the $2,000 4K 144hz monitor by Acer, so the only thing you'll gain from higher frame rates on a 4K monitor capped at 60hz is faster input. I noticed this by making the mistake in purchasing the 4K 60hz Acer Predator monitor. I wish I woulda waited for the 144hz version n save my money to get the best of the best 😂 Call of Duty Black Ops 4 plays at 90 to 110fps max settings at 4K on my rig constantly. Hardly ever goes lower than that besides the menus. Except, what's the point in that if my monitor is capped at 60hz? Faster input... if using a controller, the joysticks literally have no delay when fps is uncapped. I also have Nvidia G-Sync so it does help, although the gameplay is not smooth. It's a tiny bit fuzzy when moving fast paced n that's obviously cuz of the capped 60hz of my monitor. I'm honestly thinking about HDMI'ing my computer to my LG 4K television n turning on "TruMotion" which turns on 120hz on it. I'm sure I'll then experience smoothness like a motherfucker with those 100fps n higher benchmarks at 4K 😂😂😂 till I can afford the 4K 144hz monitor...
